http://www.simonastick.com/Sim on a stick (SOAS) allows you to run a virtual world on a USB stick. It’s free and open source.
It runs on PC only but if you have one PC and a network with Macs on you can access SOAS using the Imprudence viewer on the Macs with the PC as the host. You can also use it on a Mac running parallels but not native to Mac. There are a number of versions of SOAS and you can access all of them from Ener Hax’s website – simonastick.com The download here is a modified (mod) version. We have repackaged the original SOAS to include the Imprudence viewer with an autostart and we have removed some content such as adult skins. We have also included Linda Kellie’s kid avatars. sim-on-a-stick - youtube playlistACTIVE OPENSIM GRIDSBy Hipergrid Business. This list includes all grids that have been active this month. Please note that some grids may only be up part-time, especially the smaller ones.
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Grid_ListThere are hundreds (thousands?) of OpenSimulator-based virtual worlds out there. Many of them are free to use and welcome new users. This grid list is a community-generated list of such worlds.
